whoops did someone forget to blog?

Okay so today I'm gonna post two back to school essentials since I forgot to post one yesterday! Today's essentials are all about accessories. They make or break your outfit. I love accessories, they make every outfit special. They set you apart from the crowd. They make your clothes look better and more fun. Your outfit is like a piece of art. You always have to add the final touches to them.

OXFORDS! I love 'em. Your Mom probably wore a pair when she was younger. If she still haS them I suggest getting them out and trying them on for size! They are so adorable. They are the perfect flat shoe you can buy! They look nerdy but sophisticated at the same time. Oxfords are coming back. I see them everywhere. On girls, mannequins, even on some guys! I'm loving Urban Outfitters huge collection of them. They sell the original saddle shoes style and even metallic and vintage looking ones. A new style of oxfords that are really big and trendy are ones with cut outs on the side. I love the patent leather ones. You can wear them without socks or you can wear colorful tights to add color to the shoes. Oxford booties are really cute too. They work year round. You can wear them with cute ankle socks in the fall and spring. Cute tights and jeans in the winter and with sundresses and shorts in the summer. Free people and Urban Outfitters sell great oxfords at pretty reasonable prices. $40-$130. They last for a long time because they are made from real leather and suede.

Time for back to school item number 2!

So you know that Miley Cyrus...has a "fashion line". Well, if this is news to you then keep reading. She and famous designer Max Azria have put their name on a Walmart clothing line. the line is pretty cheap and I will say that some of the clothing and accessories she "designed" are pretty cute. I think the most expensive thing they sell is $24 .00, but that's for BOTH the bottom and top for a bikini. Not bad. I especially love the button downs they sell. The cheapest button down I have ever bought was $17 and she is selling them for $8-$10. Azria and Cyrus designed a number of them. Some have floral designs and plaid while my favorite is a dark demin one! I just love demin button downs. They look cute with dark jeans and dresses. They take place of a cardigan and make layering really fun and easy!
Left to right:$10,00, $13.00, $8.00
Love them!

Solitude is bliss..correction: Summer is bliss.

Summer is half way over..time to start back to school shopping :( ew. But I'm gonna make it fun by posting pictures of cute clothes everyday until the 2nd week in August that are affordable and can work well into your summer and winter clothes. this will help you create an almost brand new school wardrobe for the 2010-2011 school year!

Okay so the first piece this week is a floral dress. You can work this into your summer/spring/fall wardrobe. In the summer, a cute cropped vest and a pair of strappy sandals will get you ready for the beach. For the first day of school, a 3 quarter sleeve cardigan and some cute accessories with a pair of neutral flats will look cute but not overdo the whole look. In the fall a pair of dark stockings with some cute Keds or boots and a long sleeved cardigan or jean jacket look really nice. If you really want to take a risk, tights with a pattern on them can work well too. Just make sure that the pattern on the tights is no too bold or it will out shine the floral print on your dress.
Dress from Forever21.
$16.90
3 other prints to choose from

yeah yeah yeah? no no no?

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a band from new york that consists of Karen O on vocals, Nicolas Zinner on guitar and Brian Chase on the drums. I only just discovered the grungy group this year but they have been out in the music biz for quite some time. The yeah yeah yeahs were not all into the grungy pop feel untill they were inspired by Ohio's punk scene. They then decided to change their name from Unitard to Yeah Yeah Yeahs and change up the folk music they were playing. In late 2001,they released their self titled album for the first time ever. They have been climbing to the top and are now more popular than they were in the early 2000's. Some songs to listen to by this great band are Maps, Zero, Heads Will Roll and Phenomenon!! Check out their latest cd "It's Blitz" in stores now!

It's that time of the week AGAIN!

Another week of music! Here's 7 new songs to listen to while getting through this dreadful week or it could be a very happy week! Depends on what you're doing! But anyways 7 new songs to listen to!

by: Solange Knowles
-Yes, it's Beyonce's little sister! This song came out a while ago but I still love it. I don't think she has come out with anymore albums but from what I heard off of the first one I loved it! She is very old time, kinda jazzy. She is very different from her sister's hip-hop/edgy/pop vibe.
by: Paramore
-ahh Paramore, can't get enough of them. Ignorance is one of the many deep intriguing songs off of the album Brand New Eyes, Paramore's latest album. This is one of the first singles released off of the album. I love the music video. Her hair stands out so much because it's so bright!
by: diane Birch
-Diane, Diane, Diane. She seems to come up in my weekly music posts very frequently. Well what can ya say? I love the girl, I didn't choose for it to come up. ITunes did. Blame them. I saw Diane in concert when she opened up for Nick Jonas and The Administration. I honestly don't know if she played this song or not. When you first hear her songs, they all seem to mish mash together. After a while you realize that they are all different in their own way. She is very soulful and laid back. Can't wait to head to the store and buy the full album titled Bible Belt.
by: King's of Leon
-KOL. love them to death! That's all I have to say about them I just love them! The music video makes me laugh too. they look so old, they have a 70's vibe to them with their bell bottoms, mustache's and long feathered hair. Funny stuff! well. They did go through different stages. I guess they were very inspired by the 70's during the early 2000's.
by: King's of Leon
-Oh. then country boys..seems like they would be from the city from the way they dress and sing but they're from Tennessee! The funny thing is they are all related. All brother's except the bass player, he's their cousin! crazyy! It's like the Jonas Brothers...but WAY better.
by: Tegan and Sara
- I think I already posted this song but I just love it so much!!
by: Ellie Goulding
-This song is so catchy! It's kinda techno but it's not it's hard to explain. Just listen to it and I bet you'll like it!

Fringe frenzy!

Fringe, some people cringe when they hear it and some people get so excited about it. I am probably in between the two extremes. I love fringe. It's really cute if you wear it the correct way. But if you don't it can end up disastrously. Somepeople don't know or realize when they put too much fringe on. If you wear a pair of fringed moccasins, you shouldn't grab your fringe vest and head band to go along with it. Fringe doesn't match with fringe. Everybody thinks that you can't wearfringe in thesummer. Yes, you can. even though people tend to think about it as a fall or winter staple, it is still totally wearable in the spring andsummer. Moccasin booties with shorts look really cute and super cool. I wear my black minnetonka moccasin booties all the time with shorts and skirts. If you don't like moccasins with shorts but you love the look of fringe, a cute fringe vest can look really cute in the summer. Since a fringe vest tends to be onthe heavyside, a tank top would probably look best and keep you the coolest. Now if you are feeling a little more on the daring side, a pair of fringe shortsby Zara.

10 style choices hated on men and 10 that are loved

So on my daily computer raid..I guess I can call it that. I was looking on the Yahoo homepage and they had a story about the 10 most hated style choices for men. And I agreed with pretty much all of them

1. Ed Hardy...
I can't stand Ed Hardy. Whenever I see it I think of Jon Gosslin. It makes the whimpy men who wear it think they're tough because they have all these flames and skulls all over their shirts in really bright neon colors that suposeddly "attract the eye" yea....

Sorry. I didnt think the picture was going to be THIS big. But do you see what I mean?

2.Baggy or saggy jeans.
Yes. I hate them. Pull your pants up. I dont care if they are loose around the leg but around the butt area, that's a different story. Why can't girls wear their jeans below their butts to show off their underwear? I mean our underwear is probably a lot cuter.

The picture explains it all.

3.Socks with sandals.
What's the point. That's all I have to say.

4.Speedos
Again, what's the point. To show off your lean muscular buns and thighs? I think no. I would walk away from any guy who came up to me in a speedo.

This picture counts for the speedo and fanny pack. I didnt think that you could combine both of them...well ya learn something new everyday.

5.Fanny packs
Why not just get a satchel to make it even worse?

6.Skinny jeans
Now this one, I do not completely agree with. Some people, yes, they look so stupid and do not fit their body. But some guys really do look good in them. I'm against the super tight ones that you wonder if they painted them on or it's some sort of saran rap covering their freakishly skinny legs.

Skinny enough for ya?

7. White under shirts
Wife beaters, muscle shirts, cut offs, what ever you call them, they're still white trash!
p.s. They are called undershirts for a reason....they go under a shirt..

My point excactly.
8. Too much jewlery
Why do guys need jewelry? Maybe a watch or a small necklace that usually goes under your shirt and it not visible. But chains and bedazzled belts and rings on every finger look cheap and tacky.

9. Baseball hats
Again..why? I don't agree with this one as well. Some people can pull off the baseball cap. Some people don't. It works on younger guys not old men who wear then just to cover there little patch of baldness coming in.

wow.

10.Clothing that is too big or doesnt fit properly
When does it ever look good? Last time I walked by a guy in pants the drug behind him like a wedding dress train and a cuttoff tee that showed his "happy trail" that he must be proud of, I didnt do a double take and say DAMNNN. he's a keeper. I did a double take and said DAMN. what is he wearing?

Again..the speedo/fanny pack picture kinda says it all with the old man's half shirt.

Now for the top 10 things guys wear!

1.Vintage band shirts
I think that vintage bad shirts are so cool looking. But make sure you actually listen to the band and you didnt jsut buy the shirt because you thought you looked cool. The shirt could be a really nice conversation starter. But if you don't know anything about the band then you look pretty stupid.

2.V-necks
The v-neck is probably one of the cutest things a guy could wear. No guy can go wrong with a vneck. They come in so many different colors. Jeez you can even buy 10 packs of them from target for like $8.

3.Interesting shoes or sneakers
If you dress in a pair of really unique or original shoes it shows that you care about what you wear. You took time to find those shoes and made sure that they are totally you.

4.Collared shirts
If you wear a collared shirt, it makes you look put together. A nice crisp cotton button down with a pair of dark jeans and cool sneaks and maybe a pair of sunglasses will look great. They make you look like you wanted to wake up this morning. It may even fool people into thinking that you shower regularly.

5.Vintage sunglasses
Many guys don't wear sunglasses. They choose to squint and suffer. I mean people are always like "but then you can't see their eyes!" Who cares? They look really cool on some guys. Some Ray Bans or a cool pair from Urban Outfitters will work well on all guys.

6.Homemade/braided braclets
They look really cool on a lot of guys, especially on a tan arm hahaha anyways, if you handmade them even better! Makes them all the more unique.

7.A bookbag
In place of your "satchel", "manbag", "murse", "carry all" or your "imported italian leather holder". Just buy a cool looking backpack. and carry all of your belongings that you have to have with you.

8.Belt
Keep the pants up. I hate the skateboarders who use a shoelace to hold their pants below their butt. like really? I dont think a belt is that expensive. But then I went to pac sun and realized that the pants come with the shoelace as a belt. I guess they think that it's okay to wear the shoelace since it comes with the jeans?

9.Dark jeans
No more Hollister and Abercrombie ripped bleached white ugly jeans. Let's go out and buy some jeans that actually fit around the waist that have no holes in them and are a dark wash..they flatter everyone. Maybe while you're there look for a belt.

10.Shorts.
Guys need to wear shorts in the summer. Some guys think it's cool to wear jeans..I mean yes every once in a while it's okay but just because you have those special $50 rips in your jeans does not make them the 4 seasons jeans. Any type of shorts are nice. Even plaid. But if you wear the plaid shorts. Don't wear another print on top! Thanks.

Yea so those are the top 10 and the worst 10 things guys wear!!

ACID RAIN..

I love the look of anything acid washed. It looks so cool and edgy. It completes any look. The way it puts a tougher edge on your outfit makes the look great for anyone. It's so versitile. My favorite acid wash piece are shorts for summer. I love the different colors that acid wash comes in. The different colors look great on shorts especially. The teal and dark purple on a short are really cute and unique. The ways to acid wash are endless. You can acid wash anything from a short to a belt. Acid wash comes in many prints as well. I love the splotchier look. Here is an example of a different type of acid wash. These shorts pictured below are $12.99 from Sears. Bargain!! They're really cute and not too flashy so a printed shirt would go great with out being too overwhelming.

The tank top in the photograph below is $18.00 from Bergdorf Goodman. The tank top is very simple. You can layer it with another tank or put a bandeau underneath. If you're a beach goer, then you can use this top with a cute pair of colorful dolphin shorts to cover your bathing suit while you shop on the boardwalk!

DIY
Now, if you want to acid wash yourself, this 80's trend may be a little difficult to achieve yourself. ehow.com told me how.
You'll need pumice stones, chlorine, a washing machine and whatever jeans you would like to acid wash.
step one: Soak the pumice stones in chlorine, make sure you know how to use the chlorine properly and how to dispose of it as well.
step two: Put the stones and the jeans into the washer. Make sure that your washer is equipped to handle the pumice stones being thrown around. Check every 15 mins to make sure that the process is going well and that the jeans don't get too acid washed.
step three: Remove the jeans and pumice stones. Put the jeans into another washer (who has two washers?) Well anyways, put sodium bisulfite into the washer to remove the extra chlorine. Wash the jeans once more with no chemicals to make sure that all of the chemicals have been removed from the jeans.
step four: Dry the jeans two times through to make sure that everything is set and won't remove onto your skin. There you have it a pair of your very own homemade acid washed skinny jeans!

Go out and buy yourself some acid washed clothing or try it yourself! It looks great on anyone. try it out. Even if it's something small like acid washed shoelaces or socks! But I recommend that everybody owns some acid washed clothes! Shopping at Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Hot Topic and Metro Park for acid washed, mineral washed and bleached pieces are highly recommended places to go since they carry some of the best long lasting jeans!

Look at those two fags, well, the cigarettes of course.

So. I've been listening to a song by Jamie Lidell for quite some time. It's called Compass. Every time I listen to it I have to minimize my screen to make sure that it does not say Rob Pattinson. In the beginning of the song it sounds just like him! I love the song but it's just so weird that they sound so similar. They look nothing like each other but from the picture in the v
ideo, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4-k9Fez1n0, they seem to dress similarly. I don't know. It reminds me of the way Rob sings in Let Me Sign. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H47oQH1TW4. I have to say that I do enjoy listening to Jamie Lidell's song much more than Rob Pattins
on's. Jamie's lyrics and way of singing seem more pleasing to the ear unlike the way that Rob sings. He seems to drag his lyrics out to the point where you can't even understand what he is singing. But you decide if they sound the same or it's just me and my crazy mind.

something old something new, something borrowed, something blue.

I found a really cute line of clothes recently from snooping on Twitter. The company is called Hoss Intropia. Their collection's are so fresh. The dresses are so airy and light while the accesories are made very heavy and rocker chic looking. The line is pretty expensive but investing in one of these pieces is probably a good idea. The prices for a dress run from $90-$300. I absolutley love the swim wear from the 2009 Summer collection. The pieces are so laid back and carefree looking. The models show off the apparel perfectly. The flowing blouses look great while wearing on the beach or with a pair of cute jeans and sandals. I know, a year too late, but some styles just never get old.

How many words is your picture worth?

2,587,656,589,123,456,789,589,156,159,263,478,589,455,867,530,999,911,456,987,654,321,000

You know when they say that a picture is worth a thousandwords? Well if you think about it is so is your room. It's pretty much where you live, well, if you're a teenager at least. But your room is a way to express yourself with out using pens and paper or the computer. When someone walks into your room they automatically know what type of person you are. They can figure out your personality, your hobbies and your interests all with one glance. For example: the room has bright pink and orange walls, stuffed animals lining the bed, trophies for various cheerleading competitions and a closet full of pink and purple clothing. You will automatically assume that the person is a bubbly pre-teen girl who loves the color pink and loves to cheer. Many people express themselves in more ways than one. But sometimes the furniture says it all. Some people who like vintage looking pieces in dark woods and deep hues are more of hmm.. I guess a boho type. While people who like clean cut straight lines in black and white are probably modern. I'm more of a vintagey person. I love the look of dark wood and the pretty designs and patterns. Some of these vintagey pieces can work for anybody, whether you're a going green girl or you love sports so much that it's pretty much the only thing that you do.

This picture frame is vintage inspired by www.carlagizzi.com. These frames can go into any room whether it's a baby room or a grandmother's room. They are very modern yet sophisticated $18.00

This beautiful vintage china mosaic vanity can work in any room. It's a great placeto get ready in the morning. The vanity is from www.carlagizzi.com as well bur unfortunatelyit is sold to a customer.(for more information on both pieces pictured above go to www.carlagizzi.com)

Last but definitely not least, this gorgeous chandelier from www.vintageshopper.com looks very classy in anyone's room. The chandelier is on sale for $59 but is currently out of stock.to warn you if you would like this chandelier to actually light up your room and not to be used as a decoration, be aware that this chandelier can only be used with real candles.

Next time you go shopping try to pick up a vintage looking piece for your room. or go online shopping at the two great links that i have shared with you. urban outfitters sells great vintage pieces as well. they have stores that are open to the public as well as online ordering. It looks great in any place in the house. Even if you are strictly a modern person.
